is proud to feature quality accommodation. We take lots of aspects into consideration, such as quality rating, assessment and customer reviews, before approving any hotel, B&B, guesthouse or self catering property for membership of our organisation.

The majority of our member properties have a formal graded or assessment.

Accommodation is graded by either; the AA, or Quality in Tourism. The grading scheme have different criteria for hotels, guest accommodation (such as B&B’s and guesthouses) and self catering properties. So a 4 star hotel cannot be compare to a 4 star B&B as the assessment criteria is different.

Quality Assessed Scheme

This alternative scheme is aimed at Guest Houses, B&B’s and Self Catering properties that do not want to apply for the national star rating award but who do wish to offer visitors reassurance that the accommodation meets all legal requirements and offers an acceptable level of cleanliness and comfort.

The quality assessed inspection is a local accommodation assessment scheme run by Quality and Tourism accredited by VisitEngland. The criteria is agreed by Quality and Tourism to conform to other schemes run across the country.

Self Assessment does have a self assessment for operators who are awaiting an inspection or do not participate in formal schemes. The purpose of the self assessment is to ensure the accommodation provider is aware of appropriate precautions so the property is:

  • Safe for guests – fire risk assessment, heath & safety, food hygiene etc
  • Give clear accurate information about the property – clear booking procedure, terms and conditions, access statement.
  • Run by owners who are dedicated to providing quality accommodation, we also consider feedback from review and travel websites during this process.
