Bath Bachfest is now in its seventh year and is a much looked forward to fixture in the city’s annual events calendar.
Celebrating the music of J S Bach and his contemporaries, the 3-day, 5-concert mini-festival will also feature music from great European masters of the Baroque period. Bach, naturally, along with Vivaldi, Handel, Corelli and Telemann alongside less well known composers such as Zelenka and Chédeville.
The evening concerts feature the period-instrument ensemble Florilegium, the renowned Academy of Ancient Music with guest director Christian Curnyn, and The English Concert, conducted by Harry Bicket, with the Erebus Ensemble and a starry cast of soloists, performing Bach’s great Mass in B minor in Bath Abbey. Harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani and record-player Michala Petri will perform a lunchtime concert, whilst Rachel Podger’s Brecon Baroque offers a Saturday morning treat.
Early booking is recommended – in 2017 every concert ticket sold out!
