Bath Film Office is supporting a new ITV period drama based on Jane Austen’s final incomplete novel, Sanditon. The show is being shot at locations around Bath, North East Somerset and Bristol and will star Rose Williams, Theo James, Anne Reid and Kris Marshall.
Jane Austen completed eleven chapters of the novel before illness prevented her from continuing. It was originally known as The Brothers, before being renamed Sanditon when it was originally published in 1925.
The production company in charge of finding locations told reporters: “When looking for a base for filming Sanditon… There is a wealth of locations in this area, perfect for period drama and particularly the Georgian period where our story is set. The country houses, Bath and its elegant Regency architecture, even the Somerset coastline all offer a wide range of locations perfect for Sanditon.”
Filming is thought to start in the spring of this year.
