Bath Apartment Breaks consists of two properties in the centre of Bath run by Alison, who has long worked to promote the great work being done by independent businesses in the city and has herself been recognised for the effort she puts into making every stay special for her guests.
The two self-catering apartments have been designed to be a welcoming ‘home-from-home’ where guests can enjoy relaxing after a day out in Bath. Both of them are within easy distance to the centre and have private parking, so guests can leave their cars safely and explore the city on foot (much more relaxing than driving!). You can go anywhere you might want to visit while staying with Bath Apartment Breaks, while not sacrificing the need to be in a quiet residential area.
3 Herschel Place is near Sydney Gardens and the Kennet and Avon Canal, so in just a couple of minutes, you can stroll through the Georgian Pleasure Gardens to the canal and feel as though you are in the country, or follow the toll path until you are deep in the countryside! In the other direction, you’ll see beautiful Georgian terraces to Pulteney Bridge leading you right into the heart of the city.
The other property, 4 St George’s House, is on the other side of the city but just a few metres from the River Avon and the Bath to Bristol cycle path. In 5 minutes, you’ll be at a lovely riverside terrace café, less than ten minutes from there is the Royal Crescent and Victoria Park in one direction and the other direction will take you in the heart of the shopping centre through to Queen’s Square.
Alison said: “We try very hard to make our guests feel at home and although we don’t live on the premises, we always meet guests personally when they arrive and are easily reached if needed during their stay.”
Anyone choosing to stay at one of Alison’s properties can be guaranteed the best advice on where to go and which sights to see. “We realise that most of our guests do actually want to see the sights and enjoy the experience of being in Bath, so we provide lots of local insights into what to see and do! Before guests arrive, we send them tips on things they might want to plan on doing when they arrive and answer any questions they might have, we also provide tourist information in the apartments.”
Try out the new Digital Guest Book
Visitors to Bath Apartment Breaks will get access to a digital guestbook before they arrive, this downloadable guide which has information on everything that is useful to know when staying somewhere new. It also is great to use when out and about in the city. It contains an especially written guidebook to Bath with lots of information and links up with Google maps to help guests navigate from their location directly to where they want to go. Most importantly, it also has details of all the discounts included with the Bath Rewards Card, like three hours for the price of two at Thermae Bath Spa!
Alison said: “Our business is providing luxurious, relaxing accommodation with top notch service in the heart of Bath!”
“Individual Service is really important!”
Speaking about working with visitors to Bath, Alison said: “Individual service is really important and much easier to provide when you can be entirely flexible.” It is one of the great things about having an independent business, Bath Apartment Breaks can be tailored completely to the individual.
Alison said: “We do whatever we can to tailor our accommodation to the needs of the individual, if a guest asks for something a bit unusual, we can usually find it! Requests have included decorating the apartment with personalised balloons and champagne for big birthdays, finding a fondue set to be used for Christmas dinner and taking delivery of a wheelchair for use around town.”
A highlight of Alison’s 2018 was being honoured at the Visit England Rose Awards, she said: “We were delighted to win a Visit England Rose Award this year for outstanding service!” Winning the award has spurred Alison to continue her good work making her guests feel as welcome as possible. The award was presented to the Bath Apartment Breaks team at the Independent Hotel Show in London and are designed to showcase accommodation providers that give the warmest of welcomes and provide incredible experiences for their guests. Alison said: “I didn’t apply for the award, so I was very surprised and pleased to get an email telling me I had been awarded a ROSE!”

The best things to do in Bath
Alison is always happy to help her visitors with a plan of things to do when they are staying in Bath, but she has her own ideas of what makes a great day in Bath. She said: “There is so much to choose from, I have too many favourite things to fit into one day, but… I would choose from a wander around the shops, a picnic in Parade Gardens, afternoon tea at the Pump Rooms (I love the atmosphere and the relaxing classical music played by the resident musicians!), a walk along the canal towpath, it’s like being in the country without leaving town, a visit to Number 1 Royal Crescent, there is so much to see there and I always spot something different! Plus, the guides are so knowledgeable! I like to end the day by going to dinner at Acqua in Walcot Street and definitely going to a concert at Bath Abbey, the Assembly Rooms or at the Guildhall during one of the city’s amazing festivals.”
For Alison, the best part of living and working in Bath is being in such beautiful surroundings, “it really soothes the spirit!”
Alison added: “The combination of historic and contemporary makes for a city which really does have something for everyone, and I love living in a city where I can find and do pretty much whatever I want, amongst beautiful architecture, and yet get out into the stunning countryside in no time.”
We’re sure that booking a stay with Bath Apartment Breaks will have you thinking the same thing!
