After nearly 90 years, G W Pabst’s extraordinary film has stood the test of time better than most of its contemporaries – not least through the truly iconic presence and look of Louise Brooks, whose gaze remains as compelling and modern as ever. Brooks – as Lulu, a young woman whose passions include all ages and genders – sets the screen on fire.
