Richard Alston Dance Company
The final tour of Richard Alston Dance Company, which closes in Spring 2020, brings a defiantly upbeat programme.
The evening includes Brahms Hungarian, which was so rapturously received last year; Alston’s latest work, Voices and Light Footsteps, which is new to Bath and which is danced to sensually expressive madrigals by Claudio Monteverdi; Shine On, to the song cycle by Britten and Auden On This Island featuring live signer Katherine McIndoe and pianist Jason Ridgway, and Martin Lawrance’s A Far Cry, performed to Elgar’s impassioned Introduction and Allegro.
Richard Alston has been creating dance for over fifty years. He is internationally recognised as one of the most inspiring and influential choreographers in the world of contemporary dance, developing a unique and distinct dance language and shaping the art form in this country.
This heady concoction of music and dance will be the last opportunity for Bath audiences to see his hugely acclaimed company perform. Don’t miss it!

“Lilting, elegant, zestful, witty – the music flows through the dancers’ bodies with a sense of absolute rightness and sheer joy in movement. In other words, essential Alston” Sunday Times
