Unashamedly a luxury romantic self-catering cottage 12 minutes from Bath city centre, the cottage is ideal for weekends away, mini moons, honey moons or just a few days’ escape in the delightful countryside.
Many walks for walkers and splendid for cyclists being on Sustrans Two Tunnels Route 24.

ACCOMMODATION
Sleeping 2 in the master bedroom, recently converted Brooks’ View not only has a luxury 1400 pocket sprung bed but also a decadent bathroom with a large walk in shower and a Victorian roll top claw bath. The cosy living room has a comfortable sofa and a snuggle sofabed for that extra guest. In the winter the traditional wood burning stove provides a lovely focal point and also extra heat. There is a small dining area with a traditional pine table and 4 chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped and has both a dishwasher and a clothes washer. On those halcyon days you can easily breakfast on the patio just outside the cottage.
Built in the early 1800s, Brooks’ View is one of 4 artisan cottages built for the Somerset Coal Canal workers in the tiny hamlet of Tucking Mill, in the Midford Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. An area of total peace and calm yet so close to the City. An ornithologist’s delight too..with the bird feeders attracting gold finches, coal finches, blue tits, herons and nuthatches to mention a few.
Down by the brooks there is a summerhouse with a patio and a lovely stone barbecue. Ideal for enjoying that glass of cool crisp wine. Flyfishing can be arranged if you fancy a breakfast trout.
AROUND AND ABOUT
Lying in the historic hamlet of Tucking Mill there is plenty to interest our guests. The wildlife lovers will adore the birds and the geologists the delights of exploring the basis of the structure of the UK. this is the home of William Smith and many of his original surveys were done around this area.
Bath is the most obvious attraction with the historic Abbey where Edgar the first King of England was crowned, the Roman Baths and the Thermae Spa together with the most wonderful Georgian architecture much loved by Jane Austen and her fans today. At only 20 minutes distance there is Longleat, the Saxon town of Bradford on Avon, the National Trust village of Lacock used in Jane Austen and Harry Potter films and 45 minutes drive takes you to . And there are many more…Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Bristol with the Science Museum and famous zoo.

There is free Wifi throughout the cottage and there is a small TV in the bedroom as well as a larger flat screen in the sitting room. An iPod Docking station is also provided. There is a selection of DVDs, a variety of books as well as some board games.

There are two apartments in the city centre, The Old Smithy Loft and No 2 Hedgemead Court, and three cottages just 12 minutes drive away at Tucking Mill, Midford, a historic hamlet just outside the city boundaries in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The bedroom has a king-size double bed, a large wardrobe, chest of drawers, 2 bedside tables and a dressing table. The decor is blue and cream
The bathroom is luxurious with a Victorian rolltop bath with claw feet and a large walk-in shower. Egyptian cotton towels are provided, both bath towels and hand towels.
The kitchen is fully equipped. clothes washer, dishwasher, coffeemaker, toaster as well as an electric oven, microwave, fridge , freezer, breakfast crockery and standard crockery are all provided. Basic starter pack includes coffee, tea , milk, sugar, salt and pepper. Cleaning materials are also provided.
Media facilities include free Wifi throughout, iPod charger, DVD player, flatscreen TV downstairs and up. Lovely local walks and cycle rides being on Sustrans 24. Wild swimming at Warleigh Weir (2 miles) and Farleigh Hungerford (4 miles) Historic area being the home of William smith, the father of English Geology.

William Smith, the Father of English Geology, lived in one of the houses in Tucking Mill. Simon Winchester wrote the Map that changed the World about Smith’s original work in this field which even today is used as the geological basis for surveys. Examples of the strata are to be found on the Sustrans cycle path just behind the cottage. Ann can provide further info in interested.
There is a lovely reservoir also on the other side..do wander there and see the bats and birds in the evening. You might even catch sight of a cormorant fishing the large carp.
Being on Sustrans 24 means you can walk into Bath through the Two Tunnels or even cycle and there are endless walks around. You can walk to the 2 local pubs within 15 mins..and other further away.
Beng on 12 minutes from Bath means there is no excuse not to visit all the historic beauties but many guests find they just love the peace and quiet at Tucking Mill.
Close by there is the lovely National Trust garden of Prior Park, and going in the opposite direction, the Saxon village of Bradford on Avon, the film location of Lacock (Harry Potter, Mansfield Park amongst many others) and even Stone Henge is within 45 minutes drive.
For the children, Longleat with its fabulous animals and lovely house is only 20 minutes distant not to mention Wookey Hole with excellent Reward Card discounts
