Avon Valley Railway - Children go free
The Avon Valley Railway is more than just a train ride, offering a whole new experience for some or a nostalgic memory for others. It’s a real treat for the whole family. Run by a dedicated team of volunters – from driving and firing the steam engines , ticket inspecting, passenger guards, and work in the shop, buffet, booking-hall.
We have a regular timetable of steam and diesel train days as well as a program of special events.
Trains DO NOT run every day so please see our website for details, times and tickets.
An original Midland Railway station painstakingly restored. The Station building itself holds the Booking Hall and Booking Office from which you can purchase train tickets and seek further information. The Booking Hall holds many railway artefacts, posters and signs. Along with information about the Avon Valley Railway and the Bristol to Bath Railway line, this room provides a real wealth of information.
Since the early 1970s the Avon Valley Railway has amassed a large collection of locomotives. Some have already been restored and are in regular use, whilst others are either undergoing a meticulous overhaul or awaiting their turn for some ‘tender loving care’.
Situated in the old Ladies waiting room, just outside the Booking Hall at Bitton Station, our Station Shop has a large range of railway related items; from Thomas the Tank Engine to souvenirs and books.
A wide range of our homemade cakes, which have been attracting customers from across the West CountryWebsite
