Bus operator First West of England, which runs most of the buses in the Bath and surrounding North East Somerset and Bristol area will be making changes to some of its fares outside of Bath and Bristol city centres from November 11. They say the changes will result in ‘simplified fare zones’, more ‘incentives for customers’ to save by buying tickets before they board the bus and ‘significant savings’ for customers who currently buy West of England Zone tickets.
Visitors to Bath will benefit from significant reductions due to simplifying fair zones:
First Bus says customers currently paying West of England Zone fares will benefit from significant reductions because they are simplifying the fare zones. The Bath and Bristol and Weston-super-Mare Outer Zones are removed, with the West of England Zone covering all travel not contained within the Bristol, Bath and Weston-super-Mare zones. Adult day tickets are falling by £1.00 if bought before boarding the bus, week tickets by £3.00, month tickets by £16.00 and year tickets by a significant £210.
The discounts of up to 50 per cent for children and up to 30 per cent for students as well as those aged 16-21 will result in reduced West of England Zone fares for these customers too
The tickets can be used over the whole West of England zone, meaning visitors can travel all over the region using the buses:
Customers who purchase Weston-super-Mare Outer Zone and Bath and Bristol Outer Zone tickets before November 11, and valid for travel after that date, will be able to use their tickets for travel across the whole West of England Zone. Customers who previously bought Bath and Bristol Outer Zone and Weston-super-Mare Outer Zone tickets will buy West of England Zone tickets from November 11. This ticket is valid across the whole First West of England network, including the Bath Zone, Bristol Zone and Weston-super-Mare Zone.
