Famous faces from Bath

Bath isn’t just the place to see famous buildings, you might also spot a few famous faces, with Bath’s culture and art scene there are several actors, musicians, writers and more that call Bath home.

Ken Loach
The film director and activist is from Bath and regularly gets involved in local causes and can often be seen taking part in the city’s big events. His most recent film, I, Daniel Blake, won big at the Palm d’or category of the Cannes Film Festival.

Mary Berry
Made a house hold name by the Great British Bake Off, was born in Bath and is a freeman of the city. Her father was once mayor of Bath and many of her extended family members can still be found in and around the city.

Jacqueline Wilson
The award-winning children’s author and former children’s Laurette was born in Bath. She is most well known for her series Tracy Beaker, which went on to be a popular television series.

Tears for Fears
The band, which was most popular in the 1980s and released hits such as Shout and Everybody Wants to Rule the World, were formed in Bath by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith.

Midge Ure
Probably best known for being the other half of Live Aid which he organised with Bob Geldof, Midge Ure is originally from Scotland, but lives in Bath with his family. He has worked with bands including Silk, Thin Lizzy, Rich Kids and Visage as well as Ultravox.
