FilmBath returns for 28th year

Stay in Bath > News > Event > FilmBath returns for 28th year

Bath’s 28th Film Festival will take part in the city from 1st – 11th November this year.

Like previous years, this year’s festival will include F-Rated Films. The rating given to films that have been directed by and/or written by women. The F-Rating, created by Holly Tarquini, was born following a report from 2013 that showed that less than 5% of the top 200 films were directed by women. This prompted the team at FilmBath to look closer at the roles of women in the film industry.

As well as continuing to celebrate the contribution of women to the film industry, FilmBath’s 2018 programme will include several documentary features, family films and films created by the LGBTQA+ community. There will also be a number of short films, some preview features and the IMDB Awards. These awards have been running since 2012. They include the IMDB New Filmmaker Award, the IMDB Script to Screen Award and more.

This year’s line-up features films from around the world. Celebrating everything from family, to history and includes the much-anticipated Steve Carell, Timothee Chalamet film Beautiful Boy and Lizzie, starring Kirsten Stewart, which tells the story of the infamous Lizzie Borden.

Taking place at venues all over the city, you’re never too far from some of this year’s best films. Don’t miss out on your chance to experience some truly magical cinema, see the whole schedule here: https://filmbath.org.uk/schedule
