Ten ways to celebrate Christmas in Bath
We all know that Bath is the place to be at Christmas, especially with Europe’s best Christmas market gracing the streets. There are a whole host of festive events going on at venues all across the city including pantomimes, ballets and carol services but they aren’t the only activity you can get up to when in the city this festive season.
- The Christmas Market
We know, we’ve already mentioned it, but as it is regularly voted as the most popular Christmas market in Europe we have to list it. The market features over 100 beautifully decorated chalets selling high-quality products and this year it’s bigger and better than ever with an all-new festive shopping area in Milsom Street too.
Check out the market from 22nd November – 9th - Nordic Delights
In the main shopping thoroughfare you’ll find a special Nordic Christmas shopping experience. Visitors are invited to step through the magical wardrobe into an enchanted Nordic forest where you’ll find cosy cabin and winter wildlife.
Head into the wardrobe from 15th November – 7th - Cycle of Lights
In the run up to Christmas you can get involved in a fun and interactive festive light display on Old Bond Street by cycling to turn the lights on!
20th November to 24th - Guildhall Christmas Market
The Bath Guildhall Market is the oldest shopping venue in the city and you’ll find regular markets held there. During the Christmas season it adopts a festive atmosphere and you can scour around the stalls for some unique gifts.
22nd November – 9th - Carols at Bath Abbey
Christmas isn’t Christmas without some carols and hearing them in the beautiful setting of Bath’s Abbey is something quite special. Head to the Abbey on the 1st December and 8th December to hear some carols. - Festive Street Food Market
While the main event is happening at Bath’s Christmas Market, take some time to explore Kingsmead Square where you’ll find a seasonal street food market and some local artists performing for you.
Go along from Thursday to Sunday throughout the Bath Christmas Market. - Bath on Ice
Bath on Ice is even bigger and better this year! Held at Royal Victoria Park, this is a festive ice rink – Bath style! It isn’t just the ice rink though, there are attractions galore on site including wood fired pizzas, mini golf and more.
16th November – 6th - Christmas Tree Carol Trail
Taking in the city centre, the Carol Trail consists of 10 uniquely decorated trees for you to find, there is a musical theme to each one, so get your thinking caps on! You have from 20th November to the 1st January to get involved. - Gift Wrapping Station
Held on Milsom Street, you can take your gifts to some expert gift wrappers who will make your presents look amazing for you! The service is free, but they are collecting money for Julian House, so please do donate if you are passing by.
10th – 24th - Visit Santa in his grotto
If you need a bit more help in deciding who has been naughty and who has been nice this year, then book the kids in to see Santa in his grotto. Find him in a specially built chalet in the main shopping district, he’ll be there every day from 5th December up to Christmas Eve.
